Our church excels at making everyone feel welcome and fully accepted – welcoming and accepting of persons of every age, economic, education level and abilities. Non-judgmental and deeply caring, our church members possess a genuine concern for people from all walks of life. Our congregation of over 3,000 members including persons from five generations still has a “family” feel.
We are open-minded in attitude and beliefs. This church is a safe, comfortable place to ask theological questions and explore ideas. “This is the most non-judgmental congregation of Christians I have ever been honored to serve with.”
We Are Becoming Disciples of Jesus through Opportunities for Study
Beginning at any point in one’s faith journey, there are opportunities to grow in knowing, loving and serving God. People can feel comfortable beginning where they are and encouraged to continue in the journey. “FUMC is a church growing in its prayer life, a place where anyone may find a ‘faith place’ for themselves without feeling inadequate or intimidated.”
Sermons, classes and a wide variety of small groups, offered by knowledgeable and loving teachers and pastors, touch the heart and mind.
We have numerous Sunday School classes, offered at two different hours for all ages. Members love to talk about their classes and how they grow in friendship and in faith. “We have developed lifetime friendships with Christians who are and will continue to be a source of inspiration to us.”
Numerous programs for families, children, youth and adults. “The first Sunday I attended worship here, I felt like I was in a candy store with so many exciting opportunities in which to participate throughout the week! I knew I was home.”
Worship and Music Connects Us to God
Bible-based preaching is meaningful and provides practical answers to the everyday questions of life “We would not have known the Lord if it were not for the services that the Pastors provide…sharing in the joy of the Lord, seeing how (they) are in awe of our God and how much (they) love him is always a good reason to attend church.”
We have several styles of worship services – traditional, contemporary, reflective and Spanish-language “My life feels more fulfilled and enriched by attending church… (The service I attend is)down-to-earth and I leave feeling I got something out of it.”
We have excellent and varied music and music opportunities – chancel choir, praise band, church orchestra. We host a great variety of guest artists which enrich our music and worship experience.
We Actively Care About Others
Numerous opportunities to serve give everyone a chance to make a difference.
Our church reaches out to those in need within our congregation, locally and outside our community. “There are so many serving ministries in areas that the Bible tells us to serve. I have found the members of those various ministries to be enthusiastic, sincere, loving, humble and interested in serving God and their neighbor.” “If you want to be a part of 9-10 million people working around the world in more than 60 countries, offering Christ and meeting physical needs of every kind and doing it in an organized, mostly voluntary way, then the United Methodist church is for you!”
